Morton’s Meander, a new 0.5-mile trail built to adaptive specifications at Rolfe Hill Forest in Casco, is now open! The trail is suitable for adaptive cycles, bikes, and pedestrians, creating another opportunity for the whole community to enjoy Rolfe Hill Forest. You can access the trail from the Rolfe Hill parking area and make a loop with the recently upgraded Que 5 multi-use trail. This is the first half of a longer planned loop, which we hope to be able to complete in 2027 pending additional funding.
The trail is named in memory of Dave Morton, longtime Casco Town Manager. Dave understood how important the property was to Casco residents and always wanted to see it conserved. We’re proud to honor his legacy and his commitment to the Casco community. A celebration of this and other trails at Rolfe Hill will be held next June.
Funding for this project came from the Maine Trails Program. Thank you to Mt. Abram Bike Park Trail Crew for building Morton’s Meander and Warren Excavation for the work on the parking area and Que-5 trail.
