Laurie holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Maine and has dedicated her career to helping others lead active, fulfilling lives. As a recreation therapist, she worked with individuals recovering from brain injuries and people with disabilities. Laurie is a Registered Maine Guide and has extensive experience teaching and guiding kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, winter hiking, and backcountry skiing for various Maine-based companies. She is passionate about removing barriers and helping everyone enjoy the physical, mental, and social benefits of spending time outside and participating in the activities they love. At LELT, she hosts many free programs, including A Walk in Progress, EveryBody Bikes, beginner XC Skiing and more. Laurie lives in Raymond and loves exploring new places by mountain bike, on skis, and on one of her 4 stand-up paddle boards.

Operations Coordinator

Samantha joined LELT in September 2024 and provides essential support to our daily operations, ensuring smooth financial processes and assisting with events. Sam holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of New Hampshire. From her career as a clinical social worker, Sam brings experience in collaboration, advocacy, and community outreach. As an outdoor enthusiast who values the environment, Sam is thrilled to contribute to Loon Echo’s work of protecting and fostering meaningful connections to Maine’s natural spaces. Outside of work, Sam enjoys hiking, climbing, paddling, and playing outside with her dogs, often with a good cup of coffee in hand.

Stewardship Manager

Jon has been Loon Echo’s Stewardship Manager since 2008. Prior to his work at Loon Echo, Jon was a longtime business owner in Bridgton. Born and raised in South Bridgton, Jon enjoys hiking, spending time with family, and fishing.

Director of Partnerships

Maggie is responsible for communications, organizing events, and cultivating partnerships with funders, communities and organizations. She studied Geology and Geophysics at Yale University and is currently pursuing a Masters in Policy, Planning and Management at the University of Southern Maine. Prior to joining LELT in 2018, Maggie worked in a variety of conservation and outdoor recreation roles across Maine and served three AmeriCorps terms with Maine Conservation Corps. Born and raised in northern Maine, Maggie lives in Bridgton and enjoys playing ice hockey, gardening, and moving through the outdoors on skis, in boats, by bike & foot.

Executive Director

Matt holds a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College in Hartford, CT. Prior to Loon Echo Matt worked for the Nature Conservancy in Maine as their Northern Maine Lands Steward, served as an AmeriCorps Environmental Steward with the Maine Natural Areas Program, and as an environmental educator at Kieve-Wavus. Matt has worked in a variety of roles for Loon Echo since 2017 and as Executive Director since 2019. Matt lives in Bridgton and enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and paddling.

Director of Stewardship

Rhyan is responsible for overseeing the management of LELT's conserved lands, working closely with his colleagues to ensure that these lands are ecologically healthy, accessible to the community for many uses, and feel welcoming to all. He holds a bachelor's degree in parks & forest resources from Unity College and has spent much of his career working in conservation. Prior to joining LELT in 2026, he worked for Greater Lovell Land Trust, Kennebec Estuary Land Trust, and Maine Coast Heritage Trust. Having grown up in Maine, he is passionate about providing access to the outdoors for all people and believes that fostering strong relationships with the land is key to taking good care of it. When the weather is warm, you can find Rhyan floating in his canoe or hiking in the mountains; when the leaves change color, you can find him hunting in the woods; and when the lakes are frozen, you can find him out ice fishing or trudging around on snowshoes.

Stewardship Assistant

Harry provides essential support to keep LELT trails and parking areas in great shape and ready to welcome hikers and visitors. Harry lives in Bridgton and enjoys fishing. Be sure to say hi if you see him out on the trail!
