Our community lost a very special person last week. Allen F. Crabtree III was a leader, connector, and friend - someone who cared deeply about both people and the land. His dedication to service and community left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was a volunteer firefighter, former Sebago select board member, veteran, writer, business owner, farmer, and environmentalist.

Allen was also an avid hiker. In 2010, he founded the Denmark Mountain Hikers and led the group on countless adventures across the region, including favorites like Bald Pate Mountain and Pleasant Mountain. He planned the hikes, gathered the folks, and shared wonderful post-hike recaps. The Denmark Mountain Hikers have been the volunteer caretakers of the Southwest Ridge Trail on Pleasant Mountain since 2013, and Allen led the way on every workday.
