Wednesday Wanders

Maine Master Naturalists Leigh Macmillen Hayes and Dawn Wood will lead Wednesday Wanders for Loon Echo Land Trust beginning December 6 and continuing until at least March with the main focus being mammal tracking.

Have you always wondered how to identify mammal prints?
• Are you curious about how mammals move through the landscape?
• Do you love to learn?
• Can you tolerate a few hours of slo-mo on a cold winter morning?

If you have answered yes to ALL of these questions, then you should join us for a snowshoe trek in the woods this winter.

Depending on conditions, Wednesday Wanders will take place every other week from 10am - noon for adults, and from 12:30pm – 1:30pm for families. Locations will vary and be announced to those who sign up prior to the event. We won't move quickly and we probably won't move far as we try to identify the creators of the prints and the stories they leave behind in the snow.

Come once or become a regular ‘wanderer’. The events are free, but registration is required as space is limited for both sessions.

To bring: Snowshoes (we will have a few pairs available to borrow, or loan a pair from your local library), layers of warm clothing, hand warmers, water, a snack, and a sense of wonder are necessary.

More information, including dates and links to register, can be found at lelt.org/wanders.
