Trail Work Completed on Ledges Trail

Last week, we welcomed a professional trail crew from the Trail Fixing Collective to work on the Ledges Trail at Pleasant Mountain, one of southern Maine’s most popular hiking destinations. Their work will help reduce erosion and keep this beloved trail safe and enjoyable for the many thousands of people who visit each year.

As stewards of more than 2,000 acres on Pleasant Mountain, we’re committed to making the investments needed to care for this popular trail network. A couple of Saturdays ago, one of our trail ambassadors counted 125 hikers in just six hours on the Ledges Trail. An important reminder of just how many people enjoy this special place and why ongoing trail maintenance is so essential to protecting both the visitor experience and the mountain’s ecosystem.

This latest trail improvement project was made possible through a grant from L.L.Bean via the Maine Land Trust Network. Thank you to the Trail Fixing Collective for their outstanding work and to everyone who supports the ongoing stewardship of Pleasant Mountain. We’re proud to care for a landscape of such significant cultural, ecological, historical, and economic importance.
